Interview about Seda Portable Speaker, winner of the A' Digital and Electronic Device Design Award 2020
Seda is an intelligence technology base functional device. The pen holder in the center is a space organizer. Also, digital features as the USB port and Bluetooth Connection make it as a portable player and speaker with a home area use adaption. A light bar embedded in the external body works as a desk light. Also, the appealing look of luxurious makes it so appeal home-ware could be used in interior design. Also, using the space in a better way is one of the essential features of Seda.

View Design DetailsThe idea of integrating a pen holder within Seda originated from the need to create a multifunctional device that goes beyond typical speaker functionality. We wanted Seda to not only deliver high-quality audio but also serve as a practical desk accessory. By combining technology with space organization, Seda enhances modern workspaces, offering both utility and elegance in one compact design.
The ambient light bar was inspired by the desire to create a relaxing atmosphere that complements the audio experience. By incorporating soft lighting, Seda transforms any room into a cozy environment, making it perfect for both work and leisure. This fusion of light and sound enriches the user experience, adding an extra layer of functionality that goes beyond traditional speakers.
The cylindrical form of Seda was chosen for its ability to optimize space while enhancing sound projection. This shape allows for a 360-degree audio experience, ensuring that sound is evenly distributed throughout the room. Additionally, the cylindrical design supports the integration of multiple features, such as the pen holder and light bar, without compromising aesthetics.
To achieve Seda's luxurious aesthetic, we selected high-quality materials with a matte finish and integrated subtle metallic accents. The smooth curves and minimalist design give it a sophisticated appearance that fits seamlessly into any interior. At the same time, we ensured that these design choices did not compromise the speaker’s functionality, allowing it to deliver both form and function.
My background in Persian carpet design taught me the importance of detail, pattern, and storytelling. These influences are reflected in Seda’s design, where every element is carefully considered to evoke a sense of tradition while embracing modern functionality. The interplay of form, texture, and light in Seda embodies the same philosophy of blending art with utility.
The touch control panel was developed with user convenience in mind. By streamlining the interface, we ensured that users could easily control the speaker without being distracted from their tasks. The touch-sensitive controls are intuitive, allowing for smooth operation that aligns with Seda’s minimalistic design philosophy.
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that the pen holder, speaker, and light features complemented each other without feeling disjointed. We achieved this by using a consistent design language across all components, focusing on smooth transitions and unified materials. This cohesive approach allows Seda to serve multiple purposes while maintaining its sleek, modern look.
In modern living spaces where efficiency is key, Seda was designed to serve multiple functions without taking up extra space. By integrating features like the pen holder and desk light, we created a device that not only saves space but also enhances the functionality of the user’s environment, making it perfect for compact home offices.
Sustainability was a core focus in the development of Seda. We used eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient components to reduce its environmental footprint. The design is also built for durability, minimizing waste by ensuring that the product remains functional and relevant over time.
