View Design DetailsIn the A9 cover design, my approach to balancing functionality with artistic expression was to treat natural rhythms and geometric forms as complementary elements. While the technical structure of the speaker introduces certain constraints, I viewed those limitations as a framework that guides creativity rather than restricts it.I intentionally combined soft, organic lines that represent natural flow with sharper geometric shapes that convey structure and modernity. This allowed me to create a surface design that is visually striking, gives the product its own identity, and still harmonizes with the speaker’s physical integrity and acoustic performance.To achieve this balance, every detail—from the color palette to the relationship between forms—was thoughtfully crafted to support both the user experience and the visual narrative.
The A9 cover design draws heavily from the fluidity of Istanbul and the rhythmic movement of sound waves, both of which had a profound influence on my creative process. Istanbul’s constant flow—its shifting lights, layered histories, and movement between continents—inspired the organic, flowing forms in the design. At the same time, the visual language of sound waves guided the dynamic curves and the sense of motion embedded in the composition.To capture these elements in the final design, I combined soft, continuous lines with structured geometric shapes, creating a balance between natural movement and modern precision. I also relied on a carefully curated color palette to evoke the city’s atmosphere—from its calm tones to its vibrant energy. Layering, rhythm, and contrast were key techniques, helping me translate both the emotional and physical essence of Istanbul and sound into a cohesive visual expression.
In developing the A9 cover design, the transition from hand-drawn sketches to digital vectors played a crucial role in refining the visual language of the artwork. My initial sketches were intentionally loose and organic; they allowed me to explore fluid forms without constraints and to capture the spontaneous rhythm I wanted the design to convey.When I moved into the digital phase, the challenge was to preserve that organic quality while enhancing precision. I used vector tools not to rigidify the forms but to clarify them—maintaining the natural curves, subtle imperfections, and movement from the original sketches. This process allowed the design to evolve while still retaining the authenticity and softness of the hand-drawn lines.Ultimately, this combination of freehand exploration and digital refinement shaped a final piece that feels both modern and human, balancing expressive spontaneity with clean, contemporary geometry.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Bang & Olufsen A9 significantly shaped my approach to the design. This milestone called for a visual narrative that honored the heritage of the A9 while also reflecting its forward-looking spirit. I wanted the artwork to acknowledge a decade of iconic craftsmanship, timeless form, and emotional connection—elements that have made the A9 more than just a speaker.At the same time, I aimed to infuse the design with a sense of renewal and evolution. By blending contemporary color harmonies, fluid forms, and modern geometric structures, I created a piece that pays tribute to the A9’s legacy while signaling its ongoing innovation. The balance between familiarity and freshness became the guiding principle, resulting in a design that feels both celebratory and future-oriented.
In the A9 Cover Art design, my goal was to create a visual bridge between modern geometric aesthetics and the calming presence of nature. I tried to translate the way music moves—its crescendos, pauses, and subtle transitions—into visual forms.The flowing lines, layered structures, and rhythmic patterns in the artwork mirror the sensations I associate with listening to music. Instead of depicting sound literally, I aimed to express its energy and emotion visually. This personal relationship with music guided the balance between structure and movement, helping the final design feel both harmonious and alive.

Its harmonious color palette and the way the composition flows naturally across the circular surface showcase a thoughtful integration of form and function. The design maintains a strong visual presence in different environments, demonstrating contextual versatility. By blending organic curves with architectural geometry, it creates an engaging narrative quality that feels both contemporary and timeless—an aspect highly valued by the design community and the jury alike.
From my perspective, the A9 cover design demonstrates how visual art can meaningfully merge with sound, setting a direction for future loudspeaker aesthetics. As sensory elements continue to blend, I believe future developments will move toward designs that not only complement acoustics but actively enhance the listening experience through form, color, and spatial rhythm.This integration will likely push designers to create covers that communicate the character of the sound—whether through abstract patterns, material textures, or dynamic visual structures.
