Interview about Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, winner of the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award 2025

About the Project

At Ouattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, we examined all the cities of France that bear traces of Romanesque influences. The details were inspired by the elegant facades of French streets and Roman arches. Inspired by the monasteries and Notre Dame cathedrals in France, we combined durability and dynamism in this project. The space is a masterpiece inspired by the smells of fresh bread and bakeries we encountered while traveling in France. It offers a unique and inviting atmosphere with its natural features and fine details.

Your innovative fusion of French Romanesque architecture with modern resort amenities at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel is striking - could you elaborate on how you balanced historical authenticity with contemporary comfort requirements?

At Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, we carefully blended the elegance of French Romanesque architecture with the comforts of a modern holiday experience. Our goal was to preserve the grandeur of the past while meeting the expectations of today’s travelers.Architectural elements such as arches, stone details, and symmetrical forms reflect the Romanesque style, while open-plan layouts, natural light, and advanced infrastructure introduce contemporary functionality. In the interiors, we combined historically inspired textures and materials with modern furnishings, lighting, and smart technologies — creating a space where guests can enjoy both aesthetic richness and exceptional comfort. Striking this balance was guided by our core principle: preserving the spirit of the space while prioritizing user experience.

The natural stone and wooden textures at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel create a unique atmosphere - what inspired your material selection process, and how do these elements enhance the guest experience you envisioned?

At Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, our choice of natural materials such as stone and wood is rooted in our desire to create a warm, timeless, and nature-inspired atmosphere for our guests. These materials do more than offer visual appeal — they evoke a genuine sense of comfort, serenity, and authenticity. In selecting materials, we considered both the local climate and the architectural character of the space. Natural stone symbolizes strength and durability, while wood brings warmth and softness to living areas. The balanced use of these two elements allowed us to design an environment that prioritizes not only physical comfort but also emotional well-being.Ultimately, every material we use is more than just a surface — it becomes a quiet yet powerful part of the emotional connection our guests build with the hotel.

Your custom-designed chandelier and single-piece carved marbles at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel showcase exceptional attention to detail - could you walk us through the creative journey behind these signature architectural elements?

At Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, the custom-designed chandelier and single-piece carved marbles are signature elements that reflect the soul of the project — uniting craftsmanship with refined aesthetics. These features are not merely decorative; they carry strong narratives that define the character of the space. The chandelier was designed to align seamlessly with the architectural language of the hotel. Carefully handcrafted, it highlights the relationship between light and space, becoming an iconic focal point that immediately captures the attention of guests. The same meticulous approach was applied to the monolithic marble pieces. We worked closely with artisans to preserve the natural texture while achieving a harmonious surface geometry. At the heart of this process was a dedication to originality and attention to detail — because to us, true luxury lies not in extravagance, but in thoughtful craftsmanship.

The central courtyard fountain at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel appears to be a focal point of the design - how does this water feature contribute to the overall spatial narrative and guest experience you aimed to create?

The central courtyard fountain at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel is more than a decorative element — it was designed as a symbolic focal point that nourishes the spirit of the space. Inspired by the traditional courtyard culture, this water feature represents tranquility, gathering, and a sense of connection with nature. The continuous sound of flowing water adds a gentle acoustic softness to the space, creating a calming and meditative atmosphere for guests. Visually, the fountain anchors the courtyard, defining the balance and orientation of the architectural composition. Whether guests sit nearby or admire it from a distance, the fountain offers a sensory connection that enhances their experience of the space. This feature acts as a bridge between the courtyard life of the past and the modern holiday experience, serving as both the emotional and functional center of the spatial narrative.

Given that Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel spans 20,000 square meters with 438 rooms, how did you ensure design consistency while creating distinct personalities for the seven different room types?

The large scale of Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, with its 438-room capacity, required a meticulous design process to balance diversity with overall coherence. While creating distinct personalities for seven different room types, we maintained a strong consistency by preserving core design principles and brand identity. Each room type was planned to appeal to different guest profiles — some offer a more minimal and spacious atmosphere, while others stand out with rich details and luxurious accents. Despite this diversity, a unified material palette, balanced color scheme, and consistent lighting approach ensured visual and emotional harmony across all rooms.

The multiple dining venues at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel each required unique design approaches - could you explain how you developed distinct atmospheres while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic throughout the property?

Each dining venue at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel is designed to reflect its own unique identity and atmosphere. To maintain overall cohesion across the property, we established a unified aesthetic language. While developing distinct themes and ambiances for each restaurant and café, we carefully balanced the choice of materials, color palettes, and details. Natural textures, warm lighting, and thoughtfully selected furnishings define the character of each space. At the same time, the overall design language and architectural style remain consistent, allowing guests to experience a seamless aesthetic journey throughout the hotel. This approach ensures that each venue retains its uniqueness while staying true to the brand identity.

Your Silver A' Design Award-winning work at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel demonstrates remarkable space optimization - how did you approach the challenge of designing functional yet elegant common areas for such a large-scale property?

We are proud to have received the Silver A’ Design Award for our work at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel. This recognition reflects our successful blend of aesthetics and functionality in designing the common areas. For a project of this scale, our primary approach was to prioritize space optimization and user experience in the shared spaces. We carefully planned circulation paths to ensure guests move comfortably, creating spacious, open, and inviting areas. Additionally, we designed flexible and multi-functional zones that serve both aesthetic and practical purposes throughout. From material selection to lighting, every detail emphasized elegance and warmth. The resulting common areas, despite their large scale, offer an intimate, balanced, and user-friendly atmosphere.

The integration of French bakery-inspired elements at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel is intriguing - could you share how these sensory memories influenced your design decisions and material choices?

Elements inspired by French bakery traditions played a key role in our design process, adding warmth, intimacy, and a nostalgic touch. These sensory memories guided design decisions that emphasize both visual and tactile experiences. We chose natural materials like wood, stone, and warm-toned ceramics to evoke the inviting atmosphere of bakeries throughout the hotel's common and private spaces. Soft lighting and meticulous craftsmanship further create a cozy, home-like environment for our guests. This approach ensures that guests experience a multi-sensory journey that touches not only their sight but also their sense of touch and memory.

Looking at the extensive amenities at Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, from the spa to the children's areas, how did you ensure each space maintained its specific function while contributing to the overall French-inspired narrative?

At Quattro Beach Spa Resort Hotel, we carefully ensured that each area—from the spa to the children's zones—maintains its unique function while contributing to the overall French-inspired narrative. To achieve this, we established a cohesive design language using color palettes, material selections, and details that reflect French elegance. This way, our guests experience both functional comfort and the cohesive French concept throughout the hotel.
