Interview about Venturi Showcase, winner of the A' Furniture Design Award 2024

About the Project

Venturi provides real value for displaying works of art, perfectly complementing the personality of its owner. Careful use of aspect ratios in the Venturi design has resulted in an experience that maximizes visual power. The continent of the design is aesthetic timelessness, where purity of form combines elegance and durability. Every detail in the design is the result of careful and disciplined research. The most important factor in the emergence of the design was that it had a completely original and strong line.

Your innovative approach to automotive-inspired furniture design in Venturi Showcase is striking - could you elaborate on how specific engine components and cylinder arrangements influenced your creative process and final aesthetic decisions?

Automobiles have always been the technological products that interest me most. The harmony of hundreds of parts as a whole is nothing but a great passion for engineering and design. Based on this issue, I designed the Venturi Showcase. Just like automobiles, a design that consists of many different parts but is in perfect harmony as a whole has emerged.

The visual power of Venturi Showcase stems from carefully calculated aspect ratios - what mathematical principles or geometric relationships guided your design choices to achieve this harmonious balance?

Starting from the question of how I can use geometric shapes such as ellipses and rectangles together and in harmony rather than a mathematical principle, and by examining automobile designs that use these two geometric shapes, I took great care to use both geometric shapes in a harmonious manner. This played the biggest role in revealing the visual power of the Venturi.

In developing Venturi Showcase, how did you navigate the challenge of creating an entirely original display solution while ensuring it would maintain its visual impact and relevance for years to come?

Timeless design concept. This concept was the one that I adhered to while designing the venturi, in order to ensure that it preserves its visual power for many years and to add value to the places where it is exhibited.

The four fixed columns and directionally-varied shelves in Venturi Showcase create a compelling architectural rhythm - what inspired this specific structural arrangement, and how does it enhance the presentation of art pieces?

As I mentioned before, the inspiration comes from the holistic structure of automobiles, which seems complex but works in harmony. This both makes Venturi stand out in visual and design terms and adds value to the works exhibited on it.

Your research process for Venturi Showcase involved studying hundreds of visuals across various fields - could you share some unexpected sources of inspiration that significantly influenced the final design?

Of course I can share. First and foremost were the engine assemblies of luxury and sports cars. Following this, there were touches from the fashion world and technological designs.

The timeless elegance of Venturi Showcase appears to challenge conventional showcase design norms - how did you balance the desire for innovation with the practical requirements of displaying and protecting artwork?

The venturi owner can provide partial protection by displaying important and special works at certain points where the ellipse forms enter the four vertical columns.

From concept sketches to the final production of Venturi Showcase, how did your background in luxury furniture design influence your material selections and quality control processes?

During the time from sketching to production of the design, I had mostly completed in my mind what the material would be. The harmony of leather and wood has always impressed me. Wood is a product used in almost every field, but since leather is not a common material in the furniture industry, especially in products such as showcases and consoles, I made this choice in order to eliminate this perception and to present to people how these two materials look when used correctly in harmony.

The distinctive visual language of Venturi Showcase earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition - how do you envision this achievement influencing your future approaches to furniture design?

First of all, the recognition gained is of course proud and exciting. This success will be a great inspiration for me to create many designs that are seriously different and have a unique design and visual language for the future in the furniture industry.

Could you detail how the development of Venturi Showcase, from its June 2023 inception to its January 2024 exhibition debut, evolved through different iterations to achieve its final form?

In fact, it would be safe to say that there has been no evolution at all. Only certain visual arrangements were made by A'DESIGN AWARD until the design was exhibited. Of course, I was informed what these regulations would be and they were arranged and forwarded.

As Venturi Showcase represents a fusion between automotive aesthetics and functional art display, what insights can you share about creating furniture that serves both as a practical showcase and as an artistic statement in its own right?

First of all, I have always agreed with the principle that the design should have a language and originality that reflects one's self, regardless of the field of design. Creating new, original yet practical designs that will make our lives easier in every sense is not an easy process. At this point, the work and responsibilities of real designers are huge. My biggest thought about creating new designs is that it should not be forgotten that everything on Earth will inspire a design. This can be anything that comes to your mind, from a tree leaf to a reflection in the water, from a cloud to intertwined images, from technology to ancient works. My last word on this subject is that if the designer finishes the design by asking himself questions as if he will use the design himself, then I think the design will reach its real purpose.
