View Design DetailsThe Ursa Catamaran combines the elegant and functional design of Viking ships with modern technology and luxury, resulting in a unique sailing vessel. The characteristic curved bow of Viking ships has been modernized in the yacht's front section, ensuring efficient water displacement and speed. The craftsmanship inspired by traditional Viking decorations is integrated into the interior with contemporary materials. Additionally, drawing inspiration from Viking steering systems, the yacht features a high-tech hydraulic steering system, offering ease of use and superior maneuverability.
The Ursa Catamaran's carbon superstructure represents a significant technical achievement in both performance and sustainability. Carbon fiber, with its lightweight and durability, enhances the yacht's speed and fuel efficiency. Additionally, the environmental impact of carbon fiber is minimized, creating a more sustainable structure. This material choice combines high performance with an eco-friendly approach in modern design.
The design process for the Ursa Catamaran Yacht, from November 2023 to March 2024, required intense focus and meticulous effort on an individual level. The key to developing such a complex design in this short timeframe was thorough planning, along with the efficient use of digital modeling and simulation tools. The most crucial phases were structural design and material selection, followed by performance testing and finally the integration of aesthetic details. Each phase was carefully optimized to achieve a perfect balance of functionality and visual appeal.
The electric propulsion system of the Ursa Catamaran prioritizes environmental consciousness over high-speed performance. The vision behind this choice is to contribute to the protection of the oceans and transition towards more sustainable maritime solutions. The electric system offers lower carbon emissions, quieter cruising, and greater energy efficiency, aligning with future maritime trends. It represents a step forward in strengthening the role of eco-friendly technologies in marine transportation.
As a young designer, I have the freedom to question traditional yacht designs and seek innovative solutions. This allowed me to push boundaries and combine functionality with aesthetics. Instead of relying on traditional forms, I focused on modern materials and sustainable technologies, aiming to create a forward-thinking yacht design. This fresh perspective brought an unconventional approach, prioritizing both performance and eco-friendly features.
The accommodation layout of the Ursa Catamaran Yacht for ten guests focuses on maximizing space efficiency while balancing luxury amenities with practicality. I used multi-functional furniture and space-saving solutions to enhance the functionality of each area. Luxury comes not only from size but also from the quality of materials, so I chose sustainable wood, marble, and elegant fabrics. Additionally, I prioritized natural light and panoramic windows to create a spacious and open atmosphere, offering both comfort and aesthetic richness.
In integrating Scandinavian architectural elements into the Ursa Catamaran Yacht, I focused on creating an elegant and functional aesthetic that would appeal to modern luxury yacht owners. By combining the simplicity, functionality, and harmony with nature typical of Scandinavian design with high-quality materials, I crafted a contemporary sense of sophistication. Minimalist details and natural materials blend with luxury, providing a sophisticated, comfortable, and sustainable atmosphere that modern yacht owners seek.
My research into Viking maritime legacy deeply influenced the design of the Ursa Catamaran Yacht. Specifically, the sharp, upward-curved bow of Viking ships inspired the yacht's aerodynamic front section. Additionally, drawing inspiration from Viking craftsmanship, I incorporated natural wood details and intricate carvings into the interior design. These elements reflect the legacy of the past while blending them seamlessly with modern aesthetics and functionality.
The 45-meter length and 10.50-meter width of the Ursa Catamaran Yacht allowed me to create a careful balance in both exterior styling and interior spatial planning. These generous dimensions enabled me to design elegant, flowing lines on the exterior and expansive sunbathing areas. Inside, I utilized the space efficiently to create comfortable, spacious living areas for guests, while ensuring functionality in every room. By maintaining this balance, I was able to blend luxury and comfort with a modern aesthetic.
The success of the Iron A' Design Award has motivated me to take the Ursa Catamaran design to the next level. In future projects, I plan to maintain the essence of Scandinavian design—simplicity, functionality, and harmony with nature—while incorporating more sustainable and technological innovations. By blending this character with modern materials and advanced engineering solutions, I aim to continue creating luxury, eco-friendly designs.
