The Starfish Collection by Pavit Gujra is inspired, bold and unique. Pavit is very passionate about colors, animals and nature and takes inspiration from them. The Starfish Collection is inspired from her scuba diving in the Andaman. Starfish being celestial symbols of infinite divine love, also holds characteristics such as intuition, brilliance, vigilance and inspiration. The Collection has been set in 18K Gold with over 4000 pieces Sapphires, Garnets and round brilliant Diamonds and completed with Tahitian Pearls. Pavit aims to be the Popstar of the Fine Jewelry industry!

View Design DetailsThe creative journey for the Starfish Collection began with my love for the ocean and the diversity of marine life. As a scuba diver, I’ve encountered numerous starfish, each with unique patterns and hues. This inspired me to replicate their individuality through a vibrant palette of Orange Sapphires, Pink Sapphires, Rubies, and Tsavorite Garnets. These stones were thoughtfully chosen to reflect the rich colors and textures of starfish I observed underwater. The addition of Diamonds and Tahitian Pearls added an ethereal touch, elevating the design to fine jewelry artistry.
The shell-shaped clasp was inspired by the ocean’s holistic beauty and serves as a nod to the marine world that the collection celebrates. Functionally, it provides a seamless and secure closure that integrates into the piece without disrupting its aesthetic flow. Artistically, the shell design complements the starfish motif, creating a cohesive marine narrative. By mimicking natural elements, the clasp becomes an extension of the jewelry's story, symbolizing the interconnectedness of marine life.
Diving in the Andaman Islands provided an intimate view of the details and behaviors of starfish in their natural habitat. Observing their vivid colors, textures, and unique patterns inspired me to recreate their anatomical precision in my designs. The Starfish Collection translates these observations into wearable art, emphasizing the organic curves and natural symmetry of starfish. My goal was to honor their beauty while adding an artistic flair, capturing their essence through the vibrant gemstones and fluid design.
Creating the seamless connection between the starfish components was a challenging feat that required innovative craftsmanship. Each starfish was individually constructed and welded together using jump rings, to add an element of movement and flexibility to the design. While achieving a natural and harmonious flow, it was also critical to maintain the structural integrity of the piece. One of the major challenges was the correct selection and placement of the gemstones, ensuring the palette mirrors the natural diversity and individuality of starfish.
The gemstone selection for our Starfish Collection was guided by the intricate patterns of each starfish I observed underwater. Orange and Pink Sapphires were chosen to reflect their bright, sunlit colors, while Rubies and Tsavorite Garnets highlighted their deeper, richer tones. Additionally, the Diamonds and Tahitian Pearls represent the shimmering underwater light. Each gemstone was handpicked not only for its color but also for its ability to complement the design's narrative. By combining this vibrant palette of gemstones, the collection captures the interplay of light and color beneath the waves.
The journey began with sketching designs for the collection, which was an integral step to ensure anatomical accuracy and artistic elegance. The selection and placement of over 4,000 gemstones was another crucial phase, requiring weeks of thorough planning to achieve the perfect color depiction and texture. The next step was to engineer the seamless connection of starfish components, ensuring the design remained fluid and structurally sound. Finally, crafting the shell-shaped clasp to complement the marine theme marked the completion of the design, tying together form, function, and narrative into a cohesive masterpiece.
The Starfish Collection embodies my vision by merging bold creativity with technical innovation, setting a new standard for high jewelry design. The use of a wide variety of gemstones to create lifelike marine motifs is a departure from traditional jewelry aesthetics, showcasing a fearless embrace of color and form. The shell-shaped clasp and intricate starfish connections further challenge conventions, blending art and functionality seamlessly. By drawing inspiration from marine life and translating it into a unique narrative, the collection represents a trendsetting approach that appeals to enthusiasts seeking jewelry that is as imaginative as it is exquisite.
Winning the Silver A' Design Award was an incredible honor that has inspired me to push creative boundaries even further. This recognition reaffirmed my belief in the power of storytelling through jewelry and has motivated me to explore more bold and bespoke designs. It has also expanded the reach of my brand, opening doors to international collaborations and allowing me to connect with a wider audience. For future marine-inspired collections, I plan to continue blending artistry with innovation, ensuring each piece reflects the same passion and commitment to excellence that earned this award.
Designing the Starfish Collection challenged me to innovate and refine my techniques to achieve the intricate marine narrative I envisioned. Micro-pavé setting methods were used to ensure a seamless finish to the piece, while mirroring the vivid hues of starfish through the careful selection of Orange Sapphires, Pink Sapphires, Rubies, and Tsavorite Garnets. The Tahitian Pearls added a touch of mystique, symbolizing the ocean's allure and its hidden treasures. My goal was to ensure that every element, from the shimmering colors to the luminous pearls, contributed to telling the story of marine life in a way that felt cohesive and captivating.
The success of the Starfish Collection has strengthened my belief that true artistry lies in creating designs that deeply resonate with those who value craftsmanship and storytelling. This collection embodies my vision of meaningful, expressive jewelry that celebrates individuality over mass appeal. It inspires me to continue crafting pieces that speak authentically to an insightful audience, celebrating the beauty of bold and personal expression.
