Your innovative approach to merging indoor gym capabilities with outdoor fitness in Risefit Outdoor Fitness has earned you the Silver A' Design Award - could you elaborate on how you achieved this seamless integration while maintaining the bold, energetic aesthetic?

At Budero, we aim not only to prioritize functionality in our designs but also to create an aesthetic experience. When designing Risefit Outdoor Fitness, our goal was to harmonize the natural essence of the outdoors with the discipline of indoor gyms. We achieved this integration by focusing on modern fitness habits, tailoring every detail to the user’s needs. Additionally, we ensured that our designs would feel less like a typical workout area and more like a lifestyle space. Balancing aesthetics and usability was key, and winning this award is a tremendous honor for us.

The X-module design in Risefit Outdoor Fitness creates both structural integrity and visual flow - what inspired this architectural solution, and how does it enhance the overall user experience beyond its aesthetic appeal?

At Budero, we have a habit of creating iconic details in every project. We knew this particular point would stand out and become a defining feature. Structurally, it serves as a joint area, which could have been addressed in many ways. To maintain a sense of fluidity and strength in the product’s design, this point evolved into its current form. In fact, we’ve documented this progression in images and displayed it chronologically on Budero’s website.

In developing Risefit Outdoor Fitness during the pandemic era, how did you balance the need for social distancing with creating an engaging community workout space that encourages regular use?

We envisioned a future where the pandemic would eventually end, and societal life would return to normal. Additionally, we observed that during the pandemic (perhaps due to the closure of gyms), people realized the benefits and joy of exercising outdoors. We adapted old habits to align with the new regulations while keeping this perspective in mind.

The modular system of Risefit Outdoor Fitness facilitates both easy assembly and efficient manufacturing - could you walk us through the development process that led to this elegant solution combining bent steel pipes with die-cast modules?

When the client first briefed us, we started from scratch in terms of the design’s direction. However, I always had the idea that it needed to stand out from existing products. We needed something unique and fresh for outdoor use. From there, early sketches emerged, which weren’t far from the final design. These sketches were refined and evolved into what we have today.

Given the growing emphasis on accessible fitness options, how does Risefit Outdoor Fitness accommodate users of different fitness levels while maintaining its professional gym environment aesthetic?

Since these products are often installed in public spaces for general use, they needed to appeal to beginners as well as semi-professional athletes. We achieved this by differentiating levels of difficulty, accessibility, and experiences. Additionally, I had this belief: the product should be so visually appealing that it draws people in. I think we managed to achieve that to some extent.

The interface graphics and explanation plates on Risefit Outdoor Fitness provide exercise guidance - what research informed your approach to making these instructions both comprehensive and intuitive for users of varying experience levels?

The design of the stations was already informed by academic and professional insights. Later, we utilized our expertise in interface design to create instructions that a beginner could easily understand without confusing a professional athlete. Furthermore, the plaques only include mandatory regulatory information without additional text. This ensures universal understanding, regardless of the country or language. These interfaces and training options are also well-suited for integration with a mobile app - perhaps a feature we can activate in the future.

Considering the outdoor placement of Risefit Outdoor Fitness, how did you address challenges related to durability, weather resistance, and vandalism prevention while preserving the equipment's sophisticated design language?

We have extensive experience and expertise in designing and manufacturing outdoor products. By combining the right materials with appropriate production techniques, we resolved these challenges effectively.

Your collaboration with fitness coaches during the research phase of Risefit Outdoor Fitness development must have yielded valuable insights - how did their input influence the final design decisions regarding equipment selection and station layout?

Absolutely, their input was invaluable. These discussions took place during the early stages of the design process. As a result, the product was designed based on this feedback, rather than retrofitting or adapting existing designs to meet their suggestions.

The integration of multiple training styles - from calisthenics to HIIT - makes Risefit Outdoor Fitness notably versatile - what drove your decisions about which exercise modalities to include, and how did this impact the overall design?

Great question. We found existing market offerings to be outdated and insufficient. Many products were purchased out of habit rather than deliberate choice. By observing the dynamics of knowledgeable customers and the new generation of fitness enthusiasts, we identified a need for change. Instead of using traditional, outdated exercises, we incorporated modern and trendy alternatives targeting the same muscle groups. This became a core principle of our approach.

Looking ahead, how do you envision Risefit Outdoor Fitness evolving to meet future fitness trends while maintaining its core mission of providing accessible, professional-grade outdoor training opportunities?

As I mentioned earlier, even Risefit will eventually become outdated. The science of training continues to evolve, introducing exercises for muscles that were previously overlooked. This progression impacts everything from workout programs and equipment to athlete nutrition. Therefore, Risefit must stay updated, adapting to trends and advancements to remain relevant.
