Your innovative fusion of modern aesthetics with the ancient Chinese concept of 'round heaven and square earth' in the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging is remarkable - could you elaborate on how you balanced these traditional elements with contemporary design sensibilities?

China's ancient idea that the sky is round and the place is round is well reflected in this design. The square represents the ground, the liquor comes from the grain, and the grain comes from the land. The quality of liquor depends on the weather, and the difference of climate brings the quality of raw materials for brewing liquor, which is closely related to the quality of liquor. Everyone has beautiful expectations, just like going to the Temple of Heaven to worship heaven. What they expect is that the world will be prosperous, stable and prosperous, and they will keep peace forever.

The reusable packaging system with imperial seal buckles in the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging creates a ceremonial unboxing experience - what inspired this specific interaction design choice and how does it connect to the spiritual significance of the Temple of Heaven?

The Temple of Heaven is the place where the emperor worships heaven, and this place represents the supreme imperial power. In ancient times, emperors were required to fast and bathe before offering sacrifices to heaven. Seek world peace. Therefore, the sacred sense of ritual is interlinked.

Your design research for the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging broke away from traditional Chinese liquor container designs - what key insights led you to challenge these established conventions while still maintaining cultural authenticity?

The design of the wine bottle breaks through the old design of most traditional Chinese liquor containers. The expression mode is modern and contains tradition. The ancient Chinese concept of "round heaven and square earth" is well reflected in this design. Climate and land are closely related to the quality of liquor.

The four-bottle design of the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging represents the four virtues of kindness, propriety, loyalty and integrity - how did you translate these abstract philosophical concepts into tangible design elements?

Each virtue corresponds to a color. Combining colors with personalities is a universal concept in the world. Why are they divided into four sections? Because, the temple of heaven is the place where the power of light shines strongest. Is the " heaven diagram " in the book of changes. " heaven diagram " contains four virtues: kindness, propriety, faithfulness and integrity.Gold stands for kindness and describes a person's kindness, just like the heart like gold written in the article. Silver stands for propriety, because silver plays an important role in propriety, symbolizing nobility, purity and eternity. Red stands for faith, and Chi-cheng (Absolute Sincerity) Chi means red in Chinese. Transparent crystal represents integrity, representing flawless and integrity.

In developing the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging during 2019-2020, how did you approach the challenge of creating a commemorative design that would resonate with both Chinese and international audiences?

First of all, it is necessary to have an in-depth understanding of traditional Chinese culture and global cultures. Combine Chinese culture with international modern styles and balance traditional and modern styles in design. Since beauty is something that is shared by all, as long as attention is paid to the taboos of various cultures, and there is a sense of awe, respect and understanding of the cultures of different countries, successful designs will be achieved.

The material combination of glass, alloy, and UV printing technology in the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging creates a striking visual impact - what guided your material selection process and how do these choices enhance the cultural narrative?

The transition from the transparency to the translucent texture of the glass, along with the faint and somewhat elusive feeling of the liquid inside, is really wonderful. The texture of the alloy bottle cap coincides well with the coldness and nobility of imperial power. The UV printing technology can combine the materials used and the aesthetic sense of the graphics even better.

The dimensional proportions of the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging seem carefully considered - how do these specific measurements relate to the architectural principles of the Temple of Heaven itself?

The cap of the wine bottle is 50 mm, which is related to the ancient Chinese belief that there are fifty great ways of heaven and earth in total. The diameter of the bottle is 28 mm, representing the Twenty-eight Star Gods. The Twenty-eight Star Gods refer to the twenty-eight star regions divided by ancient Chinese astronomers for observing the stars. The height of the wine bottle, which is 28 cm, also symbolizes the Twenty-eight Star Gods. The width of each side of the bottle is 66 mm. Since there is the auspicious saying of "everything goes smoothly" (literally "66 are smooth") in Chinese drinking games, with all four sides being 66mm, it implies that everything goes smoothly in all four directions.

Your 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging earned recognition with an A' Design Award - how has this international acclaim influenced your perspective on bridging cultural design elements with global appeal?

It has strengthened my cultural confidence and awareness of integration. The acclaim of the design award means that my design has been recognized to a certain extent on a global scale. My design incorporates cultural elements, which makes me even more convinced of the value of cultural elements on the global design stage. It has made me realize that even cultural elements with strong local characteristics can be appreciated by global audiences. Such recognition will encourage me to further explore and integrate more cultural elements, not just limited to the application of surface patterns, but delving deeper into the levels of cultural connotations and values. Meanwhile, I have come to realize the importance of cultural integration. During the design process, I will place more emphasis on how to combine local cultural elements with modern design concepts and international popular trends, so as to create works that possess both cultural depth and global appeal. This will guide me to apply cultural elements from a more inclusive and diverse perspective in subsequent designs. I may attempt to interpret a design theme from multiple cultural angles and create a design series that can cross various cultural boundaries. I have understood that design needs to find a balance between global universal aesthetics and cultural characteristics. I will consider how to highlight the uniqueness of cultural elements within the framework of global appeal through ingenious design techniques, making the products not only possess the globally popular style but also carry the unique imprint of Chinese culture.

The square outer packaging transitioning to round bottles in the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging creates an intriguing geometric dialogue - could you explain the symbolic significance behind this structural progression?

The square represents the earth and the circle represents the sky. In the transition from heaven to earth, the only variable is people, and people can affect the environment.

Looking at the future impact of the 600th Anniversary Temple of Heaven Liquor Packaging, how do you envision this design influencing the evolution of cultural preservation through modern packaging design?

Make the design of white spirit bottles no longer rigid, enable traditional Chinese culture to better integrate with global aesthetics, and allow more people to understand traditional Chinese culture more easily and intuitively.
